We are looking for an (AI) product engineer on a freelance basis who will further develop our AI chat Maya technically and take long-term responsibility for our product. We at myProtectify are developing an anonymous, free AI help chat for those affected by domestic violence using Maya. Maya supports around the clock with emotional support, orientation, knowledge, safety planning and the provision of appropriate offers of help.

At the same time, we are developing Maya step by step from an AI chat into a comprehensive platform that holistically supports those affected and makes it easier to access information, offers of help and individual resources. To do this, we need technical support from someone who not only implements, but also thinks, takes responsibility and has the desire to help shape a real social impact product. Framework The collaboration is initially planned for a project lasting around 18 months with around 2 days per week.

We are looking now and on a freelance basis. Collaboration can take place remotely or on site in Berlin. At the same time, we are not looking for short-term support “from outside”, but rather a person who will become an integral part of our core team.

If it suits both sides, we are very happy about a collaboration that extends beyond the project period. Tasks As a product engineer, you take ownership of the technical part of our product. You work closely with our core team and think about product, tech and user needs together.

You actively contribute your own ideas, suggested solutions and assessments. You will help us to further develop Maya technically, improve existing structures and reliably implement new functions. It's not just about clean code, but also about the question: What does the product really need?

What makes technical sense? What is secure, scalable and feasible? You build new features end-to-end with ownership: from the idea to the technical conception through to implementation, testing and rollout You take responsibility for the stability, security and scalability of our help chat Maya, which has been used by real people since August 2025 You connect tools, databases, APIs and internal systems with each other so that our product and team processes become more efficient You take over the technical development of our React frontend application and integration with Botpress (Low-Code/No-Code Service) You help decide what should really be built - with an eye on impact, priority, speed and quality You work directly with UX and psychology and translate technical

Botpress good understanding of technical architecture, data flows, interfaces, integrations and scalability the ability to quickly test solution approaches and convert them cleanly into stable product logic Nice to have: experience with conversational UI, chatbots or dialog-based interfaces
