We are looking for a Senior Developer for the maintenance and further development of a Linux recovery system for servers in rail vehicles. The task includes supporting a specialized recovery operating system that is used to repair hardware defects and carry out new installations in a demanding mobile environment. Key Facts Start: August 17, 2026 Duration: Not known Utilization: 0% Type of deployment: Location: Remote Country of operation: Germany Your tasks • Programming / implementation / customizing of technical components in applications based on the technologies used, including associated interfaces, modules and corresponding databases in compliance with the client's standards (e.g. use of standardized development environments and programming guidelines) • Fixing errors from the test phases in the applications / components • Documentation of the technical components • Creation of system documentation • Creation of delivery packages for the relevant applications • Analysis of IST systems, applications and architectures as well as technical assessment of their suitability with regard to the defined target architectural specifications • Conception of functional interfaces between applications and processes • Configuration of a Linux boot loader (GRUB) • Development of system functions in a hardware-related environment • Integration and testing of Linux drivers • Testing and debugging of software applications to ensure that they meet the specified quality standards • Creation of technical documentation of the development process Must-have

Requirements

• Very good knowledge of the Linux distributions Ubuntu and Alpine Linux with at least 5 years of experience as reflected in the CV • Very good knowledge of configuring boot loaders, proven by at least 3 years of experience • Software development in Golang with proof of 3 current references from the last 5 years • Software development in Python with proof of 3 current references from the last 5 years Optional

Requirements

• Knowledge in network configuration under Linux with proven experience of at least 3 years • Expertise in the area of BIOS/UEFI, reflected in the CV with at least 3 years of experience • Experience in creating documentation with asciidoc or draw.io of at least one year • Practical experience in development with the C programming language of at least 3 years • Proven experience in the development of embedded systems of at least one year • Experience in creating GitLab pipelines, in the CV with at least 3 years comprehensible • Proven use of git with at least one year of experience • Experience in using make as a build system of at least 3 years • Proven experience in using RAUC of at least 3 years Further information The location is Frankfurt am Main.
