Shopware is a leading e-commerce system that enables companies worldwide to scale quickly and efficiently. As a pioneering open source solution, Shopware is already used by some of Europe's largest brands, retailers and manufacturers in B2C and B2B. The position is located in the IT Operations department in the IT Infrastructure team, which is responsible for the internal IT infrastructure of shopware AG.
As an IT Infrastructure Architect - Cloud Focus (m/f/d) you are responsible for the vision and architecture of Shopware’s internal infrastructure. You plan and manage the cloud migration of remaining on-prem environments, define the network and security architecture and shape standards, governance and budgeting. With scope for conception, implementation and iteration, you will help build a sustainable internal platform - from foundation to operation.
This position can be filled on-site, hybrid or fully remote within Germany. Your place of work will be agreed in advance and forms the basis of your employment contract. You take end-to-end responsibility for our infrastructure vision and roadmap, how the components work together today and how they should develop further.
By migrating from on-premise environments to the cloud (AWS), you modernize our internal infrastructure and reduce risks to internal services. You define patterns and guidelines that others can reuse. You will design and further develop our network infrastructure and ensure segmentation, resilience and operability.
You review and increase the standard of monitoring, backup/restore and observability (e.g. PRTG, Datadog, AWS CloudWatch) to guarantee reliability and recoverability. Together with our IT Security Specialist and Information Security Officer, you translate security

into practical controls - from firewall policies to identity & access (Azure AD/ID, local AD). You plan and control the infrastructure budget, optimize cloud costs and make informed make-or-buy decisions. Hands-on remains part of the role: you support migrations, work closely with cloud engineers and help resolve complex incidents where architectural context is crucial.
You manage projects and, if necessary, lead small project teams professionally to deliver milestones on time and with quality assurance. You work closely with internal stakeholders (Team Lead IT Administration, entire IT infrastructure team) as well as cross-functional partners within Shopware (e.g. Information Security Officer, Product), coordinate plans and sequence changes securely.
What you bring with you: You have 2-3 years in a comparable architecture/management role across cloud and on-prem infrastructures. Your broad technical expertise allows you to think about network, identity, compute, storage, backup/DR and security and make pragmatic, scalable decisions. Cloud expertise - especially AWS - as well as vCenter, Azure AD/ID and local AD enable you to confidently control migrations and hybrid setups.
You move securely in IaC, enterprise networking, VPN and monitoring stacks; We use Terraform, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, Tailscale and PRTG/Datadog/CloudWatch - experience with comparable tools is just as valuable. Strong planning and stakeholder management skills help you coordinate roadmaps, anticipate bottlenecks early on and ensure commitment and timely implementation. Security is an integral part of your work: you translate policies into enforceable, auditable controls across the entire stack.
Communication is one of your strengths: you explain complex trade-offs clearly, adapt your messages from executive briefings to technical specifications, and align teams behind a plan. Very good spoken and written English is required; German is a big advantage, but not a requirement. Willingness to travel for regular appointments on our campus in Schöppingen rounds off your profile.
This is what we offer you:Corporate culture: Open culture, flat hierarchies, personal initiative is encouraged.Employment contracts: Permanent employment offers long-term security.Flexibility: Flexible working hours and options for mobile working and full remote contracts.Equipment: Free choice of work hardware.Onboarding: Well-structured onboarding with support from a personal "buddy".Working environment: Inspiring environment with committed colleagues and a dynamic community.Development opportunities: Diverse opportunities for personal growth and development.
